Help with dorm and apartment moves

Most student moves have a small inventory but a complicated route from the vehicle to the room. The crew handles that route: carrying boxes and bags, moving beds, dressers, desks, and tables, and working around the window a residence hall or apartment building allows.

Common jobs: a dorm move within a check-in window, a shared apartment with stairs and no elevator, a term-end move-out with furniture and mini fridges, and a house move when several students pool rooms. For a single piece or a compact load, small moves covers the same ground with a lighter scope.

Dorm and shared-apartment access

Residence halls control move day more than any inventory does. Check the move-in or move-out window, service entrance, elevator reservations, cart availability, and any parking rules before the crew arrives. If the building requires a permit or a check-in process, the person who booked the move should have those details ready.

For apartments the questions are simpler: stairs or elevator, how far the vehicle can stop from the entrance, and narrow doorways or hallway turns. Measure anything large before requesting the estimate, and name one person at each end who can meet the crew and make placement decisions.

Carrying versus storage

The crew moves items from the vehicle into the room, or out of the room into a vehicle. Storage is not included in the moving scope: if you need a term-break storage unit, arrange it yourself and include the facility’s address in the move plan so the crew knows the full route.

If you are renting a truck or using a portable container, see loading and unloading help for the labor-only side of the job.

Truck and container plans

Transportation is decided with each request. Full service covers transportation with our moving truck and driver. For labor-only moves, you arrange the truck or portable container and its transportation — a rental truck, a friend’s pickup, or a container dropped at the curb.

Tell the coordinator the vehicle size and where it can stop so the crew plans the carrying distance in advance.

Request a student moving estimate

Leave your first name, last name, email, and phone number. A coordinator calls you back to plan the move inside your window and check available dates.

Frequently asked questions

Do you bring a truck for dorm moves?

We supply the truck and driver for full-service local moving. For labor-only help, you provide and transport the rental truck, trailer, or portable container. Tell the coordinator which situation you are in.

Can you store my stuff between semesters?

Storage is not included in this moving service. Arrange the storage unit yourself and share its address with the coordinator so the crew can move items to or from that location.

What if I don’t know the room dimensions?

Rough numbers are fine. If you know which furniture or doorways are tight, measure them and include the numbers. If you are unsure whether a piece will fit, say so when we follow up and the plan gets adjusted. You do not need a floor plan to request help.
