Use moving labor with your rental truck or container

Moving labor fits when the physical work is the missing piece of your plan. The most common jobs:

  • Rental truck or trailer moves where you need hands to fill or empty the vehicle at one or both ends
  • Portable container moves where the container arrives separately and needs to be loaded or unloaded
  • In-home furniture moves where a sofa, bed set, or appliance has to change rooms or move between floors
  • Partial help, such as heavy living-room pieces only, while you handle the lighter boxes

The job is defined by stops, an agreed item list, and placement instructions — not by a vague request for “help with a move.”

Loading, unloading, and in-home moving

Labor is really three tasks. Loading means moving agreed boxes, furniture, and appliances from inside the property into the vehicle or container. Unloading means bringing each piece out at the destination and placing it in the rooms you name. In-home work stays inside one address and can include stairs, hallways, and tight corners.

You can request help at the pickup, the destination, or both. Dates, locations, and crew assignments are confirmed before booking; the same crew for both ends is not guaranteed.

Label boxes by destination room and tell the crew which large pieces go first or last — the crew gets a working order without repeated questions. If the job is only the vehicle side, see loading and unloading.

Truck size, access, and the main pieces

A good labor request is concrete before the crew ever arrives. Keep these ready:

  • Vehicle or container: type, approximate size, and where it will sit for loading — for a container, confirm the doors open fully
  • Access: stairs, elevators, narrow doors, gates, long walkways, and parking distance
  • Items and stops: major furniture, boxes, and appliances, with each address and floor named
  • Placement: where the big pieces end up and whether anything must stay reachable until the last minute
  • Contacts and building rules: someone at each stop who can answer questions, plus elevator reservations or loading restrictions

Check the crew, the minimum, and the equipment

Before you commit to a date, get the operational details in writing. The crew brings moving dollies, furniture pads and blankets, and standard furniture protection; packing materials are included in the cost of the work. Basic furniture disassembly for beds and tables stays within the regular moving time.

Before you reserve a crew, the written quote shows the crew size, the charging method, the minimum time, travel, and extras — the estimate you approve is the number you pay. If your move is urgent, call (800) 481-4049 to check availability first.

Request a callback

Leave your first name, last name, email, and phone number. A coordinator calls you back to define the job at each stop and check available dates.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide a truck for labor-only moving?

No — on labor-only jobs the truck, trailer, or portable container stays under your arrangement. The truck and driver come from us on a full-service local move.

Can one crew load in San Diego and unload in a different city?

Yes — one end can be in San Diego and the other in a different city. Dates, locations, and crew assignments are agreed before booking; the same crew for both ends is not guaranteed, and a trip charge may apply. Whatever applies, it appears in the written quote before you commit.

How will I know what the job costs before I book?

Your estimate lists the number of movers, the rate structure, any minimum, travel charges, and added services. Review it, ask questions, and only then book — the estimate you approve is the number you pay.
