Small Moves in San Diego

No obligation. Submitting this form does not book a move.

A small move is a short list

We use “small” to mean the inventory, not the value or the effort. A single heavy sofa can take more care than ten boxes, and a studio move down three flights of stairs is still a real move. What makes it small is that the whole job fits on a short written list:

  • A studio or one-room apartment with the main furniture and a few boxes
  • One room from a larger home, plus anything being stored
  • A sofa and a dresser, named piece by piece
  • A bed, a desk, and a stack of boxes from the same room

If the job feels borderline, send the list anyway — the estimate will tell you whether it fits here or belongs on the residential moving side.

Studio, one room, or a few pieces

Most small moves are one of three shapes:

Full small move. Carrying from the old place, loading, unloading, and placing in the new rooms — with our truck or your own rental vehicle.

Furniture-only move. Exactly the pieces you name. The route matters: doorways, stairs, elevators, and any tight turn for the largest item.

Labor-only help. You have a truck or container, and you need capable hands for the loading, unloading, or both.

Say which shape you need, and whether help is needed at one end or both ends.

When a small move still needs a crew

There are good reasons to hire help even when the list is short: a single heavy item, no one else available to lift, an injury or disability that limits lifting, no vehicle or equipment, or awkward access around stairs, narrow hallways, or long carries. Those situations can turn a small list into a real two-person job.

The decision is about total cost. A quote depends on crew size, time, travel, and any minimum that applies — compare the actual written quote against doing the job without help, and ask what the total covers.

The item list keeps a small quote accurate

The best small-move request names every piece. Write it out in plain language:

  • One queen bed frame and mattress
  • One three-seat sofa (needs a doorway measurement)
  • One dresser, 30″ x 18″ x 48″
  • Eight medium boxes, four small boxes

Add the addresses, the route at each end, and whether a vehicle is already arranged. Crew size, billing method, minimum time, travel, and extras are itemized in the written estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum size for a small move?

A short list can still be worth hiring a crew if an item is heavy, access is awkward, or you do not have another person to help. The real question is total cost: the quote depends on crew size, time, travel, and any minimum that applies. Send the item list and compare the actual quote against doing it yourself.

Can small moves include our own truck?

Yes. Labor-only small moves are common with a rental truck or portable container. Tell us who is providing the vehicle and whether you need help at one end or both ends.

What if the job feels borderline between small and full?

Send the list anyway. The written estimate tells you whether the job fits this service or belongs on the residential moving side — the items decide, not the label.
