Local moves come in a few familiar shapes

A local move happens between two nearby addresses in San Diego or the surrounding Southern California area. Most jobs fall into one of these:

  • A full household moving from one home to another nearby
  • An apartment or condo move with stairs, elevators, and parking to work around
  • Part of a home: selected furniture, boxes, and large pieces
  • A move where you already have a rental truck and need help at both ends
  • A move where the vehicle still needs to be arranged or discussed

Share both addresses with the coordinator so the route gets checked and any travel charge lands in the written quote.

Truck and crew, or moving help only

Full-service local move. We handle transportation with our own truck and driver. The crew does the carrying, loading, and unloading; the driver handles the road time between addresses. One team owns the job from front door to front door.

Labor-only move. You have arranged a rental truck, trailer, or portable container; our crew loads and unloads while you or your provider handles the transportation.

Both are normal bookings. What matters is telling the coordinator which one you want, so the estimate reflects the right service from the first call.

Four details shape the estimate

A local quote is not a price menu — it is a written plan built around four things:

  • Inventory. Furniture and boxes, listed by room or by group.
  • Addresses. The layout of both buildings, including unit numbers and floor levels.
  • Access. Parking distance, stairs, elevators, gates, hallway widths, and any tight turn between the truck and the door.
  • Vehicle plan. Our truck and driver, or a vehicle you arranged.

Before you reserve a crew, you see the crew size, the charging method, the minimum time, travel, and extras in writing — so you approve the actual plan, not a vague hourly rate.

Check access at both stops

The details that slow a local move are usually outside the boxes: parking that disappears at certain hours, an elevator that needs a reservation, a hallway that fits one piece at a time.

Walk the path at both ends before your call — or ask the building office:

  • Where can the truck stop, and how far is the entrance from that spot?
  • Are there stairs, elevators, gates, or tight turns on the route?
  • Do doorways and hallways fit the largest pieces?
  • Does the building require a move-in window, elevator reservation, or paperwork?
  • Who can answer access questions on moving day?

You do not need to solve every issue yourself — flagging the details is what lets us plan the right crew and route.

Leave your first name, last name, email, and phone number. A coordinator calls you back to walk through the route, the items, and the dates — the quote is free and the terms go in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How far counts as a local move?

Most local moves run within San Diego County and the Southern California cities listed on this site. There is no fixed mileage cutoff — share both addresses and the coordinator confirms the coverage and shows any travel charge as its own line in the written quote.

Can I hire movers if I already have a rental truck?

Yes, that is labor-only moving help: you have arranged the truck, trailer, or portable container, and our crew handles the loading and unloading while you handle the transportation. Tell us the vehicle plan when you request the quote so the estimate matches the service.

What does a written local quote include?

Crew size, how the job is charged, the minimum time, travel, and any extras you approved — one document, reviewed before you book. The estimate you approve is the number you pay.
